Hashtags Can Be the Author’s #1 Best Social Media Friend
If you are not using hashtags in your blogs, articles, and your social media postings, you are making a major blunder in your searchability when posting on anything social media. Not using hashtags regularly is a major blunder that most authors make. Hashtags increase visibility quickly, opening new channels of opportunity. Just do them.
Author Tip #1: Did you know that reporters. writers. and producers routinely search hashtags to find experts for topics they are writing or reporting on? If you didn’t, you do now.
Author Tips #2: Did you know that topics that are being chatted on Twitter and most social media platforms are discovered quickly via their hashtag usage?
Author Tips #3: If you are an expert and your book is about, or circles around, a trending hashtag, you should be in the game. Use it. Coattail on it by including the trending hashtag in what you are currently posting. Become a voice in the “trending topic” scene—whether it’s for 10 minutes or 10 hours.
Author Tips #4: Create your own for special events, i.e., for my annual PublishingAtSea.com cruise, we posted throughout our workshops with #PubAtSea2022. That way, we could follow ahas and tidbits those attending posted.
Author Tips #5: Discover what hashtags are used the most in your expertise and genre. Use them in your postings to increase your visibility with others who may not know of you or your social media platforms. Go to Hashtag.org and explore.
Author Tips #6: Don’t forget YOU … use your name as a hashtag as well. I registered #JudithBriles on Twubs.com. Suggest you do, too.
There you have … a mini-gooser on the power of hashtags. Twitter started it. Others followed. Get in the habit of using them for building your influence PLUS bringing more eyes to you and your expertise.
