Authors Helping Nepal Earthquake Survivors

This past weekend was devastating to thousands, maybe millions across Nepal. It was devastating to families in other countries who had friends and family members who were hurt or killed in the massive earthquake and nepalaftershocks.

Over the past five years, I’ve had the opportunity to co-host a TEWA Tea during the summer months, that benefitted the Dhaka weavers from Nepal–amazing women who create beautiful tapestries, clothes, scarves–you name it. Elegant, vibrant and exquisite work. Knowing that 100 percent of the moneys raised went directly back to the women left my friends ML Hanson, Susanne Jalbert and myself thrilled that we could support women and families so far away.

Women and children are always disproportionately affect when disasters hit. All of those who have met women within the Dhaka community (either through the summer TEWA Teas ML, Susanne and I did or even personal treks to Nepal) wanted to help and have learned that the Women Entrepreneurs of Nepal and the Nepal Association of University Women will ensure that women’s and children’s needs are met.Logo Global Fund for Women

We can help too. Sunday, I contributed to a special fund created at the Global Fund for Women to support distance friends and families and their friends and families over the weekend. If you choose, you can too … I encourage you to do so here.
