Dr. Judith’s Saturday Blog – Be A Doer … Not a Dreamer

“The Power of a Pause “

Do you take time each day to just stop? To look around you? To take in the sounds … or lack of them? To just allow yourself to be in the moment?

What I need in the morning and throughout the day is to just transition to being In the Moment. Not others’. Just mine. For a few minutes. Mine is usually somewhere around 5 am. Depending on the time of the year–it’s an indoor or outdoor thing. Stepping on to my deck with a hot mug of tea as daylight begins to break is often an eye candy with a spectrum of colors beginning to roll.

A deep breath. Sometime a photo and share with close friends with a “Good Morning” added.

Sometimes it’s leaning my head back on wingback chair that I often work from in my office. Closing my eyes for a few minutes and letting “a quiet” arise in my body.

Sometimes it’s listening to a favorite piece of music. Or marveling at the fantastic harmonizing of voices as a song plays out.

A pause in your day … even several times a day may be the secret sauce you are looking for. It just may be the window that awaits you … to hear something you hadn’t heard before.

In Japan, it is known as Ichigo ichie – one time, one meeting. I think of it as being in the moment … whatever the moment is. Claim your time for moments.

The pause is a gift. Open it often.
