Many of the Book Shepherd Clients have won awards in 2012, including:

Barbara Sternberg won the Bronze IPPY award for the West-Mountain; Best Regional Non-Fiction category for her book, Anne Evans: A Pioneer in Colorado’s Cultural History.


Roger Frame took first place in the Relationship category with the National Indie Excellence Awards for Don’t Carve the Turkey with a Chainsaw. He also won the gold in the Family/Parenting Category of the Living Now Award in the Family Parenting category;   the 2012 Global eBook Awards in the Parenting/Family Nonfiction category; and the National Indie Excellence Award in the Relationships category. A final feather was added to his author cap when he picked up the Sponsor’s award covering all categories from the National Indie Excellence awards.


Cathy and Gary Hawk’s book, Get Clarity, The Lights-On Guide to Manifesting Success in Life and Work received a triple win … they won the Finalist Award for Self Help at the 2012 Sixth Annual National Indie Excellence Awards; the Finalist award in Self Help at the Next Generation Indie Book Awards; and a Finalist in the Self-Help: General category in USA Book Awards.

Lynn McLeod keeps racking up awards for From Simms to Zanzibar—this time as a Finalist in USA Books News in the Motivational category.


John Maling was honored with Coffee Table Books kudos for Have You Ever Held a Mountain? in the Indie Excellence Book awards. It also won the Gift Book category from USA Book News Awards and was a Finalist in the Inspiration category.


Mara Purl took top honors in USA Book News Awards in the Romance category for What the Heart Knows and was a Finalist for Foreword’s Book of the Year. Her prequel, When Hummers Dream was the winner for the best Short Story in the Fiction category with USA Book News Awards.
Gary and Sharon Worrell picked up top honors in USA Book Awards in the Health: Addiction & Recovery category for their book, Sexual Addiction: One Couple’s Journey to Discover the Strategies for Healing.

Brian Gast took was a Finalist in USA Book News Awards in the Self-Help: Motivational category for Wanting More: Why Some Executives Move from Success to Fulfillment and Others Don’t.

Philip G. Varley first book, Failure is Not an Option: The 12-Step Plan to Successful Turnarounds, was a Finalist in USA Books News’ Business General category.

Gene Morton was Finalist in the USA Book News Awards in the Business: Management & Leadership category and won the Bronze in the Business category in the Axion Book Awards for Leaders First: Six Bold Steps to Sustain Breakthroughs in Construction

Doug Krug’s book, The Missing Piece in Leadership: How to Create the Future You Want was a Finalist in the Business: General category with the USA Books News Awards.

Bob Vanourek and Gregg Vanourek’s book,  Triple Crown Leadership: Building Excellent, Ethical, and Enduring Organizations was a Finalist in USA Books News Awards Business: General category.

Luci Berardi was honored to be a Finalist in USA Book News Awards in the Women’s Issues category for her memoir: Chasing Rainbows: My Triumph Over Ovarian Cancer.

Joan McWilliams a finalist in the eBook Parenting/Family category from the Global eBook Awards for her book, Parenting Plans for Families After Divorce.
