It’s Halloween weekend … Let’s hope that lots of Treats are headed your way vs. nasty old Tricks. Here’re my three Treats to being an AUTHOR:
1 Writing a Book Seeds YOU as an Expert.
It doesn’t matter if its fiction or nonfiction, expertise grows. As a fiction writer, you become superb in research—whether it’s the theme, location or any other nuance. Think Tom Clancy—who did the media call in as the “go to” realistic expert when 9/11 hit? As a nonfiction author—you set yourself up as the “go-to” person for realistic solutions to ease the pain that your book IDs and shows steps to remove … whatever that pain is.
2. Writing a Book, Creates, Launches and Fuels a Speaking Career
Yes, I does—with a book, you are an expert; with a book, meeting planners and audiences seek authors who can “talk” about their book/key points/solutions; with a book, an author can create a career from his/her words and mouth. People will pay to hear and people will buy more books.
3. Writing a Book Morphs You as a Writer, an Author, and Person
Once a book is published, expect the unexpected. Amazing and wonderful adventures will come your way—the people you will meet; the new ideas that are seeded (and reseeded) once the book published; paths that open up to you that you are now an author vs. when you weren’t.
