Briles shares, “Speaking is the #1 way for authors to promote and sell their books. For anyone in sales and who needs to present to groups—no matter what the size—knowing how to speak; how to create stories; how to hook an audience; where to find groups who want to hear experts on topics; and how to market to them is essential. Over 30 years, I received over $3,000,000 in speaking fees and sold $2,000,000 in books. It works.”

This is one of the best books we’ve read on the topic mainly because of the way the author has handled it; she makes a difficult topic look simple and makes it easy to comprehend. It is definitely a good manual for all those who want to get into speaking effectively and effortlessly.”

Overdue Kudos Reach the Summit

Colorado Authors’ Hall of Fame Launches

DENVER COLORADO A group of dedicated authors and publishing providers in Denver, Colorado, the Mile High City today announced the launch of the Colorado Authors’ Hall of Fame. The organization is dedicated to recognizing and preserving the history of the accomplishments of past and present authors who have created and published books in or about Colorado.

The organization’s mission is “to honor and promote the works of outstanding published authors from all genres and generations with a vibrant connection to Colorado, to ensure their legacies will not be lost.” Inductees will be honored at a gala held in each even-numbered year in Denver.

“Writing and publishing a book is like climbing one of our Rocky Mountain ‘fourteeners’,” stated founder Dr. Judith Briles. “It requires years of preparation, unbelievable stamina and courage. Facing that blank page is like starting an ascent. When you reach the top by completing your book, you can suddenly see farther than ever before. This vision from the pinnacle is the gift authors give their readers. Now we’d like to give a gift back to the awesome authors who have achieved that summit. Their impact on countless readers in providing entertainment, enlightenment, and solutions is immeasurable.”

Dr. Briles and her founding board members—several of whom are accomplished authors themselves—are choosing to honor their peers by participating in the all-volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. They’re requesting that members of the public nominate extraordinary candidates whose works will then be vetted for induction into the Hall.

“I’m thrilled to be part of this project,” said founding board member Mara Purl, a best-selling author who has previously served on the board of Denver-based AuthorYOU®, and as president of the Colorado Independent Publishers Association. “Words matter. It’s often our fellow authors who’ve helped to explain our history, provide insights into politics, or brought home the profound beauty of this state. Now we can acknowledge them and their works purely on their own merit.”

The Hall strives to educate the people of Colorado and the country about the stories of the authors who shaped their works using their personal presence and the environment of our State with courage, leadership, intelligence, compassion, and creativity. “We want to focus on authors of diverse backgrounds,” explained Lynn Hellerstein, CEO of Hellerstein Brenner Vision Center. “From pioneers to politicians and educators to entrepreneurs, we want to include authors who’ve made a major impact on others with their words.”

“Which authors have elevated others with their knowledge and problem-solving?” added Liz Beerman, CEO of Team LRB, LLC. “We’re researching those who’ve inspired others to reach and stretch outside their Colorado circle of comfort.”

“Authors are required to deliver stories that entertain,” remarked Kathy Meis, founder, and CEO of Bublish. “They must stir the imagination of young and old alike; changing lives within our State, our Nation and around the World. At Bublish, we help authors work toward these goals. I’m excited that with the Colorado Authors’ Hall of Fame, we can acknowledge authors who have led the way to the top.”

“We authors are in it to win it,” said Board Chair Lisa Reinicke, CEO of Automotive Warranty Network, and award-winning author of children’s picture books and memoirs. “We know what it takes to create awesome books that teach and inspire. Now we’re dedicating ourselves to honoring fellow authors who’ve proven their worth to our society. We’ll be making sure their legacies never die.”

Information about nomination criteria, donations, events, board members and future inductees when identifiedors.org can all be found at www.ColoradoAuthorsHallofFame.org.

Colorado Author Wins Four National Book Awards

DENVER, CO., May 20, 2016 — Judith Briles of Aurora, Colo., who has written and published more than 30 books, has won four national book awards for her book released last year, The CrowdFunding Guide for Authors & Writers, (Mile High Press).

Briles and the book were honored with the “best” in the Writing/Publishing categories from the USA Book News Awards, Indie Excellence Book Awards, International Book Awards, and received the Silver from the Independent Book Publishers IPPY Awards. When the book was initially launched, it earned #1 bestseller on Amazon in Writing and Publishing. Collectively, Briles books have won in excess of 20 book awards.

“CrowdFunding is no longer a fad, it’s become a trend for authors in raising moneys to produce and publish their books,” says Briles, who is also a publishing expert and known as The Book Shepherd.

The Importance of CrowdFunding

” Welcome to OPM—Other People’s Money … money that is given to you and the money that you don’t have to pay back. Welcome to Crowdfunding.”

The CrowdFunding Guide for Authors & Writers is the first book in the AuthorYOU series. Next is The Author’s Guide to AudioBook Creation and How to Avoid 101 Book Publishing Blunders, Bloopers & Boo-Boos. Both have been published this year.

The CrowdFunding Guide is ideal for any author or writer who is not interested in the theory of “why” crowdfunding.  Rather, show me how step-by-step and do it quickly. It is easy and understandable—one that shows you how to set budgets, limit costs, create timelines and create all the essential elements necessary for a successful campaign. Does crowdfunding work? Yes. Is it doable? Absolutely … with some help.

“It is done with confidence, clarity, competence, and commitment,” said Briles, who is also the Chief Visionary Officer and Founder of AuthorU.org, a non-profit membership organization for authors based in Colorado who want to be seriously successful.

“Authors can scour the Internet for articles and try to piece together a plan from various bits of advice,” she says. “They can hire consultants. They can buy thousands of do-it-yourself books. The book has been created with confidence, clarity, competence, and commitment,” said Briles, who is known globally as The Book Shepherd® and also the Chief Visionary Officer and Founder of AuthorYOU, a non-profit membership organization for authors based in Colorado who want to be seriously successful.
