Tips for #Authors to Become a Rock Star with LinkedIn

Rock Your #Author Branding and Expertise with LinkedIn

Over the weekend, I attended the workshop delivered by LinkedIn expert and author of LinkedIn: 101 Ways to Rock Your Brand, Viveka von Rosen for the community. Of course, it was ALL about LinkedIn … how to maximize what you are doing as an author, how to use it to expand your branding and expertise and, of course, your author success.

If you are like me, at least on one of the LinkedIn features, I just let LinkedIn do “it’s thing” and let it do the random invite to visitors to mark off boxes. DON’T LET THIS BE YOUR GUIDE! You need a little help. I know a lot about LinkedIn … and here’s the cool thing that happened on Saturday: I learned lots more and with a computer with me, I was making shifts in my Profile as she presented her awesome workshop.

Here’s my LinkedIn profile:

1.    If we aren’t already connected, reach out to me and I will accept.

2.    If you aren’t on LinkedIn, join the free side now—you need to be on it to connect. I’m going to be doing a webinar this winter on how to rock ‘n soar using it. You want to be ready to jump in.

3.    Get Viveka’s book (it’s reader friendly and highly useable): LinkedIn: 101 Ways to Rock Your Brand

During the session, I did some tweaking on titles for Skills & Endorsements section–and deleted a few of them … I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it if you would go to my profile and do an “endorsement” where you have options:

Judith has skills in: “Book Publishing Expert” … and “Book Coach-Book Shepherd”

… and we can get them to 99+ quickly. Now, I didn’t “know” that I could ID the categories/topics for my expertise in—LinkedIn had just thrown them up in the past and I went along with whatever it selected. No more! I … and YOU … can rewrite what it selects. And that’s what I did immediately. This should be a goal for you to do as well in topics that you select.

And here’s a #4 to the list:

4.    If you aren’t a GOLD member of the community, join it. There are a variety of benefits and perks available. The EVENTS: monthly live meetings for onsite in Denver and post video for remote members; BookCamps, Webinars, free Monday coaching, radio show and the annual Extravaganza each September that includes a publishing service provider trade show.

HUGE thanks, and of course, this is all for your author success as the year unfolds.
