Use a Different Type of Book Launch Teaser by Judith Briles

Author Tip: Plan Your Book Launch with an Audiobook Teaser

If you have been listening to my podcast, or I speak, you’ve heard me say: audiobook sales will bypass eBook sales by 2023. That’s not far off.

  • Are you adding an audiobook to your book offerings?
  • Are you tapping into an easy peasy marketing promo that can increase your sales?
  • Are you ready to tap into this market?

In other words, do you have an audiobook? If you don’t have an audiobook (yet), would you be interested in an easy peasy book marketing idea?

For the easy peasy crowd, here’s what I’m suggesting—create a clip of your audiobook or make a clip. Do it under 90 seconds … then start your marketing push with the link you’ve created. Tell the viewer of your Tweet, Facebook post, etc., what the number of This fall, I will formally launch my newest book. The print is done. The eBook is done. The audiobook is done. I’ve got all the social media posts completed, a variety of “comparable” posters made, and the book trailer is in the works. The formal date is set to GO …

It’s a plan that I can follow … and I can assign tasks to various members on my team to support the process when we push on the big day/week. It’s something that all of you want to do as you strategize your own book launch … or relaunch. And remember, you can do a launch with a print; an eBook; an audiobook; a what? When one of the hot things about the self and indie markets is that YOU are in control. YOU decide what to push out and when. YOU call the shots. It’s a good thing.

One tidbit that I hadn’t thought about, but my audiobook consultant, Richard Rieman, did.

Create an audiobook teaser.

A “what” you say? Yup, take a shorty clip from your audiobook—or, if you don’t have the version yet, how about creating an audio clip with your voice reading a few lines or paragraphs from your book?

Use it as a push out with your social media pushes. Add it to your website, include it in a blog … where else can you put it to add some sizzle and pop?

Now, I have a new book popping … I jumped on this. Here is the link to the teaser for When God Says NO—Revealing the YES When Adversity and Loss Are Present.  All of 41 seconds—a mini segment from the audiobook that was created and now available along with the eBook and Print editions. The book I will be promoting this fall.

Take a LISTEN:

Social media is all ready to roll out when the time comes. I will be adding the clip that mentions how many seconds it is. Why? Because most have a minute to take a listen. If they are interested in the topic, or already know me, then the “buy” becomes easier.

If you haven’t got Richard Reiman’s book, The Author’s Guide to AudioBook Creation, get it. Right now,

you can get it now HERE.

Have fun with this idea. It’s unique. Few authors are doing. And it just might separate you with the book marketing cloud. And let me know if you do it.
