Dr. Judith’s Saturday Blog – Be A Doer … Not a Dreamer

                                                                                               What Is Certainty?

With every author I’ve worked with, the certainty question arises. The author is filled with doubts in so many areas as the publishing path rolls out.

Before getting to what’s certain and what’s not, start with probabilities for having a successful publishing experience. Ask, and answer:

  • Will you finish writing your book?
  • Will you get help in writing if your words or story need it after it is evaluated?
  • Will you commit to getting it edited before you attempt to publish it?
  • Will you commit to engaging a professional book and cover designer?
  • Will you create a book game plan to support book sales, and you, forward?
  • Will you commit to marketing your book after it’s published?

If you responded NO to any of the above questions, the probability of any publishing success is less than 20%.

If you responded MAYBE to any of the above questions, the probability of publishing success increases.

If you responded YES to any of the above questions, the probability of publishing success increases exponentially.

Probabilities should be addressed before you step into your certainty questions. How certain are you in getting my book ready for publication?
Once I take on a book and working with an author, it would be 100%. The exception is when the author loses interest and basically walks away from the book.

How certain are you in getting my book to #1 on Amazon?
Once I launch their Amazon bestseller campaign, it would be 100% it will succeed.

How certain are you that my book will sell enough copies to cover my publishing costs?

Ahh … that’s the crucial question in the minds of most authors. If you answer YES to all the questions above, the probability increases. The last two questions around creating a Game Plan and Marketing is where the real work starts and probability can move into certainty.
