In April, I will have my next book available: How to Avoid Book Publishing Blunders, Bloopers and Boo-Boos. One, by one, I’ll reveal all 101 of them … below is your next Tip for this week:
Are Your Social Media Profiles Fresh or Stale?
Most authors create their Profiles quickly, not really thinking of marketing/branding or leave them incomplete. Stop. Your profiles are essential for SEO purposes as well as possible followers looking for savvy advice or someone that offers comments and tips in areas they are interested in.
At least twice a year, revisit all your Profiles.
- Are they current?
- Do they identify your expertise?
- Are you using key words or key word phrases so you are findable?
- Does your Profile clearly state what your expertise is? i.e.: Judith Briles is a Book and Publishing Expert and Book Strategist. It’s who I am. What about you? Be specific and use “expert” in your description.
- How about your head shot … is it you? Does it reflect some personality?
The old unwritten rules said to pick one picture and stick to it—no more, especially with Facebook. A new pic here just might generate plenty of comments and interaction.
Tip: When it comes to Profiles, don’t simply do a copy/paste. They are have different word or character account. Take advantage of the space provided, increasing your searchability.
