In April, I will have my next book available: How to Avoid Book Publishing Blunders, Bloopers and Boo-Boos. One, by one, I’ll reveal all 101 of them … below is your next Tip for this week:
85 Create Tip Sheets and Cheat Sheets
Authors don’t maximize their hot advice … yet readers love the idea of getting them in a nugget format. Enter the Tip or Cheat Sheet. For nonfiction, go through each chapter—what can you pull from them to create a Top 10 or How to list of tips and tricks? For fiction, how about 5 essential tips to create a villain readers love to hate; 10 ways to turn a destination into a major character … you get the picture. For the Fiction crowd, your tips could be created for other writers. A twist could be to create a Tip or Cheat Sheet on how to dig out the villain from a writer’s hints—use your imagination. What do your inquiring reader’s want to know?
Tip: Tip and Cheat Sheets are short cuts and ahas. They are great to use on your website as a lure to attract followers and gather emails.
Don’t Forget Video: Book and Author Tip Sheets
Now that you are creating Tips in writing, convert your words to a short Video Tip.
Upload each tip video to your YouTube account. Include keywords/phrases in the video title and description. Author Virtual Assistant Kelly Johnson (CornerstoneVA.com) suggests that you create a playlist to identify this “group” of videos as Tips on _________________.
Tip: Share the videos on your social media (including Pinterest—you can pin YouTube videos on Pinterest boards).
