My marketing bad …

I should have done this in the beginning …

If you are creating blogs, events, or anything that needs a lead or pitch … it’s time to start a Swipe Folder. My podcast interview with Internet Marketing guru Tom Antion jogged me into action.

It’s my bad … I should have done it when I first marketed my Unpluggeds … or anything that needed a sign up or registration.

It’s time to create a folder that most like has a bunch of sub folders and files. A folder that is designed to save me oodles of time when I’m looking for “leads” to put in titles or email pitches that will get the attention of potential participants, most like

So … my question is: Do you have a Swipe File?

Anyone who does copywriting typically borrows ideas and lines and then customizes them. Make them your own. Start collecting them.

Every top copywriter keeps a “Swipe File” of copy they have seen that really grabbed them. They use the idea of the copy they’ve read or heard but tweak it with their own material. Now it’s theirs.

It’s time to make yours. Create a folder. It would located in in your Documents folder … but create a “shortcut” to the file and land it on your Desktop on your computer. Shortcuts are duplicate files that synch with the original file. Whenever a change is made, it’s duplicated in the other.

That way, anything that grabs your attention can be added quickly and you don’t have to search for the folder’s location. Ideas may come from the front covers of magazines, headlines in magazines and newspapers. Pay attention to the “tease lines” that news related, talk related, reality shows use to keep luring the viewer/listener/reader in. All are fair game.

Get going. Just start collecting things that got your attention.
