On last Friday’s Author Friendly Friday coaching call at 7 AM, I brought up the topic of how Facebook and other social media channels can be a huge time suck. It’s easy to hop on anything that is social media connections and quickly lose an hour to mindlessness, clicking, liking, adding comments and just plain old lurking. Right? STOP THIS INSANITY and TIME WASTER. Meaning you don’t get things done. JUST STOP!
From The Book Shepherd to you, do this instead:
1. Turn off all your notifications.
2. Create your own schedule—such as ONLY TWICE each DAY will you check and respond to ANYTHING.
3. Be PICKY … decide who you will reach out to or network per day. Suggestion—no more than five.
4. Use a TIMER … suggest no more than 15 to 20 minutes MAX. Author Marsha Haywood revealed that she uses an old-fashion egg timer. Love it!
5. REPEAT … this is called a new habit.
