Only read this if you want to sell more books.
People who just want to write, and not market what they do or themselves, I suggest you stop.
For those who want to sell books and spread their wise words, read on.
Let’s start with: Why should you speak on your book and your expertise? A great question … let me count the “why” ways, the secret sauce of book sales:
#5 Books support a speaking career. Big time. This is where having the Expert Factor flies in your door. You’ve got a book. You have a mouth. Put them together. Sending your book and placing it physically in the hands of a meeting planner, as well as extra copies for a decision committee, moves you into a shortlist position.
#4 By determining the theme for the meeting or conference, you can create a “hook” to tie in the topic of your book directly—creating a partnership. Offer free articles for the group’s newsletters, always mentioning the title of your book. Supports pre-sales as well as onsite sales.
#3 Include your book for each attendee within your speaking fee or at a discounted add-on. Even if everyone attending gets your book because of their participation at the presentation, always bring plenty of extras. They will be purchased for friends and colleagues who couldn’t attend … it always happens.
#2 Make sure you participate in my annual in-person Speaking Unplugged event. Held ONLY once a year, you’ve missed out for 2021. The 2022 dates will be announced in the fall.
#1 If you want to make your mark, increase your presence, become a media expert, a sought-after speaker or consultant, or simply reinvent yourself, a book can be your best friend. And celebrate YOU as the star.
Speaking is the #1 way to sell your book. The secret sauce.
Sizzling July approaches. Why not heat up your book sales by booking a few speaking gigs? The aha … you don’t have need your book to be finished or in hand. It’s forthcoming … share insights, tidbits, and how-to concepts to tease and entice meeting planners. Starting today.
Just do it.
